Therapy

BACP Registered Counsellor

How I work

The reasons for seeking therapy are many. I am a strong believer in our ability as individuals to change how we feel, think and react to the situations we find ourselves in and which may be causing us difficulty. I see my role as a therapist as a facilitator, allowing a client to learn about themselves, their relationships and their behaviours.

My aim is to provide an open, non-judgmental, empathic space to allow you to explore whatever it is that brings you to therapy.

My Practice

I have trained as an integrative therapist and am a qualified counsellor and a Level 2 IFS therapist .

My practice draws primarily on person centred, existential and psychodynamic theories. I find the internal family systems model (IFS) to be a particularly powerful and rewarding way of working and have a developing interest in working with older adults, trauma, and ADHD.

I have experience of working with a broad range of issues including Addiction, ADHD, Alcohol Use, Anger Management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Divorce, Domestic Abuse, Drug Abuse, Eating Disorders, Gambling, Hoarding, Internet Addiction, Men's Issues, Parenting, Relationship Issues, School Issues, Self Esteem, Sexual Abuse, Sex Addiction, Sleep or Insomnia, Stress, Trauma and PTSD.

Where I work

In Person: I currently offer in person therapy only at my home address in South Woodchester and at Ownzone therapy rooms in Stroud town centre.

Online: Prior to the pandemic remote therapy was very much seen as second best but it has now come into its own. There are distinct advantages in terms of access and flexibility and it has proven a very effective way of delivering therapeutic help.

Should we decide to work together I will normally ask you to commit to attending a minimum of six sessions at which point we can discuss taking the work further if this is relevant. I tend to work with clients long term but this is not a requirement for entering therapy and it may be that what brings you here only requires short term work. I am happy to work with clients both in person and remotely on this basis.

Qualifications

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their code of ethics.

I qualified with a Diploma in Integrative Counselling from The Minster Centre, one of the UK’s leading Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy training schools.

I am a Level 2 Internal Family Systems Therapist with the IFS Institute
