Jeremy Knowles

IFS Therapist & BACP Registered Counsellor

How I work

My preferred approach is Internal Family Systems (IFS), a therapeutic model that encourages us to become curious about the different parts of ourselves and the roles they play in our lives.

These parts may express themselves as anxiety, self-criticism, anger, withdrawal, perfectionism, people-pleasing or other compulsive ways of coping. IFS acknowledges the good intentions of these parts and allows us to recognise the more vulnerable aspects of ourselves. These often hold painful experiences, and acknowledging them can lead to reconciliation and healing.

I view therapy as a collaborative process. My aim is to offer a space where you can explore your internal experience from a place of curiosity, openness and acceptance. Together we can begin to understand how these patterns have developed over time, the ways they have been trying to help, and what might allow them to soften and make space for new ways of being.

Although IFS is my preferred way of working, my original training was integrative, and I continue to draw on person-centred, psychodynamic and existential perspectives where they may be helpful.

I am happy to schedule an initial 20–30 minute call to discuss what brings you to therapy and to see how it feels to be in each other’s company.

Who I work with

I work with adults with a range of issues, including:

  • anxiety, depression and overwhelm

  • trauma and the impact of past experience

  • ADHD

  • addiction and other compulsive behaviours

  • low self-esteem, shame and self-criticism

  • relationship difficulties

  • ageing, illness and end-of-life concerns

Where I work

In Person: I currently offer in person therapy from my practice in South Woodchester.

Online: There are distinct advantages in terms of access and flexibility and it has proven a very effective way of working therapeutically.

My Training

I am Level 3 trained in Internal Family Systems through the IFS Institute, and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), with a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling from The Minster Centre

Fees and Availability

My fee is £70 for a 50-minute daytime session and £90 for an evening session. I also offer 60-minute IFS sessions at £80 if preferred.

I generally work on a weekly basis, particularly at the beginning of therapy. Fortnightly sessions may also be arranged where possible.

I currently have limited daytime availability on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as Friday mornings. Evening appointments may occasionally be available by arrangement.

My concessionary places are currently full, but if fees are a barrier to accessing therapy, I am happy to discuss what might be possible.
